Beginning in 2016, the JLC transitioned Kids in the Kitchen to Youth in the Kitchen. The Kids in the Kitchen program was an AJLI program based on the JLC Junior Chefs program.  The Youth in the Kitchen program permits us to further collaborate with our community partners. JLC members and youth from partner agencies prepare meals to be distributed to at-risk youth served by various Calgary agencies. The Youth in the Kitchen program permits JLC members and youth to engage in conversations about nutrition and healthy lifestyles while preparing the meals.

With the creation of the Junior League of Calgary Junior Chefs program in 2001, the Junior League of Calgary (JLC) dedicated itself to contributing to reducing the incidence of childhood obesity. The JLC Junior Chefs program is the basis for the AJLI Kids in the Kitchen program, developed and adopted by AJLI in 2008. The AJLI Kids in the Kitchen program is offered annually by more than 200 Leagues in four countries.
