In a September 26, 2013 article in the Calgary Herald, the Junior League of Calgary was acknowledged as founder of the organization that is now known as Propellus. In 1955, the Junor League of Calgary formed the Central Volunteer Bureau. This organization has grown and been rebranded to better reflect its mission. The organization was renamed as the Volunteer Centre of Calgary in 1975, Volunteer Calgary in 1998, and Propellus in 2013.
