21 Sep In Remembrance – Doreen Lougheed
The Junior League of Calgary remembers Doreen Lougheed, a long-time Emeritus member. Doreen died on August 24, 2022. Doreen was a founding member of the Junior Service League, which became the Junior League of Calgary. Doreen was awarded the Joan Crocker Community & Civic Leadership award at the 2016 Annual Celebration Dinner recognizing her exemplary volunteer leadership in her community for post-secondary education, the Philharmonic, and her local church. When interviewed for the Emeritus Tea, Doreen remembered during an early placement having to dash to the grocery to get more supplies for a tea and cookie social for retirees. The program providing social opportunities for retirees eventually became the Golden Age Club. Doreen stayed connected with the JLC through Book Club and consistently supported the mission of the JLC with donations through her family fund established with the Calgary Foundation.
