Member Impact

JLC_Spotlight_Callout_4

The JLC offers opportunities for members to connect in social, volunteer, and business settings. As a registered charity operated solely by its members, members impact the League on a daily basis. Members offer their unique talents to developing, delivering, and transitioning community impact programs. Additionally, members have the opportunity to engage in governance and management roles within the organization. Such engagement, coupled with internal and external training, permit members to extend their personal sphere of impact.

Organizational Impact

JLC_Spotlight_Callout_7

Since being founded in 1950, the Junior League of Calgary has provided both volunteer and financial resources to the Calgary community. Since 1950, we have provided more than 1,780,382 volunteer hours and more than $3,139,442 to address unmet critical needs in the Calgary community. Our League has provided direct volunteer hours in our community, has built capacity for effective volunteering in our community, and has advocated for community issues.

Community Impact

jlcalgary_callout_02

JLC community programs focus on Calgary youth, with the goal of being catalysts for change in the lives of youth at risk. Our focus areas include effective parenting skills, life skills, and nutritional health and wellness skills. Desired program impacts are that youth acquire skills to assist with personal goal achievement while leading healthy and active lives.

April showers bring another informative JLC General Meeting!

Join us on April 22 2024 at 6:30 pm for social time and 7:00 pm for the Meeting!

Milk Jar Candle Co.

1450 28 St NE # 7 (there is space to park in front of the building; if it becomes full, park in the adjacent lot for the overflow parking).

Speaker: Join us to hear from Holly Singer, founder of the popular Calgary company, Milk Jar. Holly created Milk Jar in November 2016 in hopes of bringing ‘clean-burning, beautifully smelling candles to the market and to be a vehicle for giving back.’

Milk Jar is known for their yearly donations to non-profits supporting initiatives toward inclusion and safe workplaces; to date, they’ve raised over $300,00.00!!

If you’re interested in creating your own candle during our social (6:30 to 7:00pm), you can do so at your own cost. You must bring a cleaned, heat-safe vessel (minimum 2.5 inches in diameter, tempered glass, sealed metal/tin, ceramic, terracotta, or concrete) to the meeting and you’ll discuss ‘scent preferences’ for your candle. You’ll then leave the vessel there and can return in approx. 5 to 7 business days to pick up your candle and pay at that date. Cost is per ounce and more information can be found at the website here: https://milkjar.ca/refillery
