2010 CasinoIt is time again for the JLC to volunteer at a local casino to receive the funds which are largely responsible for allowing us to run our Healthy and Active Living programs and give back to the community. In 2008 we received over $76,000 for the two days we worked at the casino. Participating in a casino every other year frees us to spend the majority of our volunteer hours developing and delivering community programs instead of fundraising. To ensure we can fill all of the positions for this critical event, we are asking for volunteers now.
General Manager – Work closely with the casino facility games manager (one person per shift). Banker – The main responsibility is to supervise the cash cage (one person per shift). Cashier – This role is very similar to a bank teller, interacting directly with casino players (two people per shift). Chip Runner – This position opens, distributes, maintains, and closes an inventory of chips and credits (two people per shift). Count Room Supervisor & Count Room Staff (PM shift only) – These positions are responsible for counting and sorting all cash and chips (6 people per shift). This event is not limited to sustainers or active members of the League. We welcome spouses, friends, or relatives eighteen years of age and older to sign-up. Participation by EVERY active member in one casino shift frees us all from the burden of annual fundraising. If you are unable to work a shift on either of these days, you can also find a family member or friend to work for you to help you fulfill your requirement. Nearly half of our thirty-six spots are filled thanks to those who have already signed up. Make your commitment soon in order to receive your preferred position! Thank you in advance for your support. Please contact the Junior League of Calgary at 403-244-5355 or jlc@juniorleaguecalgary.com to sign-up for your shift or if you require any additional information. * These dates were selected at random by the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission and do fall over the Thanksgiving holiday. After polling our active members we received the feedback that keeping these dates was still preferred over requesting to be given new dates in 2011. |
